Scots are facing a “special kind of torture” as they remain stuck in limbo with the nation yet to find out if they have qualified for the next round or not.

After the Tartan Army endured a devastating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Brazil on Wednesday, many loyal followers are scratching their heads as to what will happen next.

Chris Findlay, 66, travelled to Miami from his home city of Edinburgh.

He said: “It’s a special kind of torture. We have to watch one game after another, kind of hoping for perhaps an unlikely result, and yeah, but it’s where we are.

“It’s, I guess, better than being completely out.

“There’s still a chance, and we just have to get our fingers crossed, other results square away.”

Gordon McBarin, 65, of Prestwick, says Scotland should rip the band-aid off and exit the cup imminently.

He said: “I was thinking, just get it over with, just put us at tonight, get it over with, because we’ve got places booked in Boston, in case we get Germany, but we’re not going to go to Mexico.

“Although, last night was actually the best we’d played.”

John Linstead, 72, added: “We came down from Boston, and we have a beautiful hotel here in Miami. We’re going out on Saturday morning, but we left an open book to where we want to go next.

“It could be a Mexico, or New Jersey, or New York, or Houston. We’re just in limbo.

“We want to know before we cancel flights and book an early room, we just sort of want to finish to get our plans finalised to make it work.

“We want to stay, and we’re hoping, and we want to go to full run. Go to your next show for the first time, see Scotland ever.

“That’s why I brought my son here, because this is the third world cup I’ve been to, and I’ve never seen Scotland go into the third, so we’re gonna do it this time, hopefully it will do, it’ll work for us, I hope.”
