Hearts head coach Steven Naismith believes their victory over Livingston sets them up nicely for Sunday’s Viaplay Cup semi-final.
A Kenneth Vargas goal was enough to send Hearts back up to fourth in the Premiership.
Hearts face a swift return game against Rangers at Hampden after leading at Ibrox for the vast majority of last weekend’s game before losing two last-gasp goals.
Naismith said: “It was an important win, not just for the weekend but because of the demands of the club.
“If you draw at home it’s not going to be good enough in a lot of matches, so it was a good win because of that.
“Secondly, in loads of aspects it’s been a good week in terms of the majority of the performance at Rangers, and then this performance and win.
“It gives us a good bounce to go into Sunday which will be an important game but one we are confident about.”
