Steven Naismith revealed his admiration of Hearts’ solid start to the William Hill Premiership season before turning his attention to Dundee next week.
The Jambos were well worth the point they got in the goalless draw against Rangers at Tynecastle on Saturday where both teams had chances but were unable to get the breakthrough.
Naismith told the club’s official website that the performance against last season’s runners-up “gives us a marker as where we are at, I’ve got to be really happy with the overall performance.”
Next up for the Gorgie side is a trip to Tayside next Saturday and Naismith recalled that Hearts lost 1-0 away to Dundee early last season as he looked to build on the first point of the new campaign.
The Hearts boss said: “The games are all different. The way Dundee played last year, they were one of the most impressive teams.
“They have had to change a fair amount of personnel this summer but I expect the same if not a tougher game.
“Going away from home, early last season we got beat there so we don’t want a repeat of that but it will be a tough game.
“We will need to work as hard as we did on Saturday. The game will be different because we will have more of the ball and have it in different areas but we will work hard this week to give ourselves a chance of winning.”
