Scotland head coach Steve Clarke will announce his squad for this summer’s World Cup next Tuesday.
Clarke will be waiting to see if Middlesbrough striker Tommy Conway is fit enough to make the list after he was subbed off with an injury in the 73rd minute of their Championship play-off semi-final with Southampton.
The 23-year-old, who has eight caps and was included in the Euro 2024 squad, left the pitch in tears on Tuesday night.
His potential injury could open up another space.
SNS GroupElsewhere, Scotland goalkeeping coach Chris Woods was pictured casting an eye over Craig Gordon during a Hearts training session.
Gordon, 43, last made an appearance for Derek McInnes’ side in a 2-2 draw with Celtic at Tynecastle on January 25.
All 48 national associations were asked to submit a provisional squad of up to 55 players to the world governing body Fifa before finalising their 26-man squad for the finals; however, they are not required to make those public.
Steve Clarke’s side kick off their World Cup campaign against Haiti on June 14 at 2am, UK time, before facing Morocco on June 19 at 11pm.
Scotland then face off against Brazil on June 24 at 11pm.
Before that, they host Curacao, who have just reappointed ex-Rangers manager Dick Advocaat as head coach, in a friendly at Hampden on May 30, before their final warm-up game against Bolivia on June 6 in Harrison, New Jersey.
