St Mirren have lodged an appeal against Marcus Fraser’s dismissal in Saturday’s defeat at Dundee United.

The defender was ordered off in stoppage time for a foul on Louis Moult that led to the Tannadice side being awarded a second penalty of the match.

Fraser was initially given a yellow card but it was upgraded to a red following a VAR check.

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said after the match: “If that’s a red card the game is… you make your own mind up.

“I don’t think Dundee United thought it was a penalty either.”

Saints released a statement on Monday evening, saying: “St Mirren FC can confirm that we have today submitted an appeal to the Scottish FA disciplinary panel over the red card shown to Marcus Fraser at Saturday’s match away to Dundee United.”

Jim Goodwin’s side won the game 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Kevin Holt and Emmanuel Adegboyega.
