St Mirren have announced the signing of Miguel Freckleton from Sheffield United and Shamal George from Wycombe Wanderers as they continue to build a squad for the upcoming Premiership campaign.
Defender Freckleton has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, while George moves north on a loan until the end of the season.
Freckleton joins the Buddies following a season-long loan at Swindon Town in England’s League Two and the 22-year-old is someone the Paisley club feel they can develop further.
Stephen Robinson confirmed earlier that there would be no transfer fee but Sheffield United would receive a percentage of any future sale.
The St Mirren manager said: “Miguel is someone whose career we have watched develop.
“We feel that he is someone similar to Richard Taylor. He’s got good attributes and is really quick. He’s still got lots to learn, but at 21 he’s played nearly 100 games and we’ll continue to work with him.
“He’s someone who will get better with more football and will become a big asset for ourselves.
“He comes in to fight for a place, and I believe makes us a lot stronger.”
Goalkeeper George has Premiership experience from his time at Livingston and Robinson revealed that he had tried to sign the 27-year-old before.
“Shamal is someone we’ve looked at for a number of years and unfortunately had been able to get him in the two attempts we made,” he said.
“Shamal comes with real experience of this league after his time at Livingston. We think he can be an instant number one at this level.
“We can get Peter Urminsky out on loan and we believe that will really develop him as he needs games. Shamal will have real competition from Ryan Mullen for that number one spot.”
