St Mirren have reached agreement with Alex Gogic for the Cypriot international to rejoin the club on a permanent contract.
Gogic impressed while on loan in Paisley from Hibs in the second half of the season, but left Easter Road at the end of his contract and was considering his options.
St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson had recently suggested that a deal to sign the player was likely to be out of the club’s reach, but the player has now agreed a two-year deal and will join up with the squad next week.
“I’m excited to be returning to the club permanently,” Gogic told the club website.
“I really enjoyed my football when I joined on loan in January and I can’t wait to get back to it.”
Speaking on Friday morning before the signing was finalised, Robinson said: “Alex is a boy we’ve had here previously.
“He’s very popular with the fans and he was very popular in the dressing room.
“He’s a centre-half who can play in midfield. He plays for his country at centre-half and he was superb when I watched him against Northern Ireland for Cyprus. He was in the back three and was excellent.
“So certainly someone of Alex’s calibre would add to the squad and the competition for places.”
