St Johnstone have signed Panama midfielder Victor Griffith on an 18-month deal, subject to a work permit.
The 24-year-old arrives from Club Deportivo Arabe Unido in his homeland’s top flight and previously played for Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer.
Griffith captained Panama at the Under-20 World Cup and is into double figures in full international caps.
Saints say he is “comfortable playing defensive midfield or box-to-box”.
“I know that Scotland is a very nice country and the league is very competitive,” he told the William Hill Premiership bottom club’s website.
“For me, I am looking forward to that challenge. This is a big opportunity for me in my career and is a proud moment both for myself and for my family.
“I have been training and working hard every day on the pitch and in the gym. I am ready for this big moment in my career.”
