The Scottish Professional Football League has announced that the Dundee v Rangers Premiership match that was controversially postponed will now be played in early April.
The match at Dens Park was called off just a couple of hours before kick-off on Sunday, with the playing surface deemed unplayable after a pitch inspection.
Match referee Don Robertson said that the safety of players was paramount and that he could not allow the game to go ahead.
Rangers were public in their unhappiness at the state of the pitch and the sudden cancellation of a crucial match in the title race, with manager Philippe Clement particularly critical of the situation.
Dundee managing director John Nelms took a different view, saying that Scottish football was meant to be “robust” and suggesting the game could have been played, with only some parts of the pitch causing an issue.
The SPFL has since said that it will carry out an investigation into the circumstances of the postponement, which was the fourth at Dundee’s ground this season.
The league has now confirmed that the game will be played on Wednesday, April 10, with an 8pm kick-off, and that it will be televised by Sky SPorts, who had been scheduled to broadcast the match on its original date.
