UEFA has banned Slavia Prague’s Ondrej Kudela for ten games for racially abusing Rangers player Glen Kamara – and given the Ibrox midfielder a three-game suspension for assault.

The governing body’s disciplinary committee reviewed the incident from the Europa League match last month and ruled that Kudela was guilty of “racist behaviour”.

The Czech player will now miss his next nine games “UEFA and representative matches”, having already served a provisional one-match ban. It will see him sit out European games for Slavia but also miss international games, including Czech Republic’s Euro 2020 clash with Scotland.

Kamara had been charged with assaulting the player and the same disciplinary panel has found that he did break the rules and ordered him to miss Rangers’ next three European games.

Slavia Prague defender Kudela covered his mouth when he is said to have racially abused Rangers opponent Kamara during the Europa League tie last month.

Kamara has since revealed the hurt and embarrasment he says he felt after an incident. He says he felt “angry, upset and humiliated” while playing the remaining minutes of the game.

The Finnish midfielder says Kudela told him to shut up before covering his mouth, leaning into his ear and saying: “You’re a f****** monkey, you know you are.”

The 25-year-old, who was instantly backed by his teammates after Kudela spoke to him, says that with hindsight, he could have walked off the pitch in protest at the abuse.

He said: “If I could go back to that time, I would walk off the pitch.”
