Scotland star Sione Tuipulotu says Scotland were confident they would beat Australia ahead of the win at Murrayfield.
Gregor Townsend’s men beat the Wallabies 27-13 in the Autumn Series match in Edinburgh on Sunday.
Tuipulotu, who captained the side against the nation of his birth, was the only player on either side to cross the whitewash in the first half.
It was an extra special day for the 27-year-old, who left his homeland over a lack of opportunities, with his Greenock-born grandmother in the crowd.
Australia arrives in capital buoyed by victories over England and Wales this month but had no answer to an impressive Scotland display.
Speaking after the game Tuipulotu was asked how the win ranked in his international career and he insists he doesn’t view it as an upset as he always believed Scotland were the better side.
He said: “To be honest, throughout the week we were pretty confident that we were better than this Wallabies team.
“So I’m not too sure if it is an upset or something like that or how the media will view it, but we were very confident that we would be the better team today.
“It’s a good win, but I don’t think it’s the best or anything and we are looking forward to the Six Nations now.”
The win was in-form Scotland’s seventh in their last eight matches.
