Next season’s Scottish Championship will be a 27-game campaign, with each team playing each other three times.

Clubs voted “overwhelmingly” in favour of a shortened 2020/21 season at a meeting on Monday.

The second tier is now scheduled to start back up behind-closed-doors on October 17, more than two months after the Premiership returns on August 1.

Hearts will play in the new-look Championship following their unsuccessful bid to expand the top flight.

Only 16 of the 42 clubs voted in favour of switching to a 14-10-10-10 league format

Partick Thistle, meanwhile, are dropping out of the Championship and into the third tier.

Plans for the League One and League Two seasons are yet to be finalised.
