Scott McTominay fired Napoli into a three-point lead at the top of Serie A as they capitalised on another defeat for Inter Milan.
McTominay scored both goals in Napoli’s 2-0 win over Torino, both of them coming before half-time, in a victory that sends them clear at the summit with four games left to play.
That came hours after Inter, who saw their treble hopes ended by rivals AC Milan in the Coppa Italia in midweek, made it consecutive Serie A defeats with a 1-0 loss to Roma.

Matias Soule scored the only goal in the 22nd minute, turning in the rebound after Lorenzo Pellegrini’s strike was saved.
The win moves Roma up to fifth in their fight for European football.
Inter are six points clear of Atalanta, who drew 1-1 with Lecce in a game decided by two penalties. Jesper Karlsson got the first for Lecce after half an hour but Mateo Retegui responded with 20 minutes left to earn a point.
Juventus moved up to fourth with a 2-0 win over Monza despite playing the second half with 10 men.
Nicolas Gonzalez and Randal Kolo Muani put the hosts in control before Kenan Yildiz saw red in first-half stoppage time.
Goals from Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez gave Milan a 2-0 win away to struggling Venezia, though they remain five points behind Fiorentina who beat Empoli 2-1. Como beat Genoa 1-0 in the day’s other game.
Villarreal climbed up to fifth in LaLiga with Yeremy Pino’s 52nd-minute goal enough for a 1-0 win at home to Espanyol.
In the Bundesliga, Werder Bremen’s hopes of European football were dented by a goalless draw at home to St Pauli which keeps them in eighth.
Basement boys Bochum are four points from the relegation play-off place after Matus Bero’s second-half goal cancelled out an early goal from Benedict Hollerbach in a 1-1 draw with Union Berlin.
Amine Gouiri scored a hat-trick as Marseille beat Brest 4-1 to move up to second in Ligue 1.
Gouiri’s early opener was cancelled out by Abdallah Sima in the 25th minute, but Mason Greenwood restored Marseille’s lead before Gouiri got the third on the stroke of half-time, completing his hat-trick just after the hour.
Lille sit third after earning a 2-0 win at Angers despite finishing with 10 men, with Alexsandro and Hakon Arnar Haraldsson getting the goals before a red card for Bafode Diakite.
Ado Onaiwu scored twice and Lassine Sinayoko had a hat-trick of assists as Auxerre routed Lens 4-0, but it finished goalless between Montpellier and Reims, and Nantes and Toulouse.
