Scott McKenna drops out of Scotland squad ahead of friendlies

The central defender will miss the matches against Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

Scott McKenna has withdrawn from the Scotland squad ahead of the friendly matches against Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

The Nottingham Forest defender, who is currently on loan with FC Copenhagen, has been struggling with injury since joining up with the international squad and has now returned to the Danish club.

McKenna has become the second centre-back to pull out of the friendlies after Grant Hanley was forced to withdraw earlier this week.

Manager Steve Clarke has not called up any replacement at this time.

Clarke is hoping the team can take morale-boosting performances from the double-header as he prepares his side for this summer’s Euros.

Players are looking to show the manager that they should be in his plans when he draws up his final 23-man squad ahead of the finals in June.
