Scotsman Stephen McGuire has won gold for Team GB at the Paralympics.

He took the top prize in the individual boccia event with an 8-5 victory in the final held at the South Paris Arena on Monday.

Colombia’s Edilson Chica Chica took silver after being defeated in the final with Ukraine’s Artem Kolinka taking bronze following his win over Croatia’s Davor Komar.

McGuire is the second Scot to take gold at the Paralympics following on from Stephen Clegg’s triumph in the 100m backstroke on Saturday.

The victory in the French capital is his first gold medal win in his fourth games.

McGuire was a late addition to the Team GB line-up after recovering from a broken leg and knee following a fall at his home in 2022.
