A Scottish teenager has become the youngest British woman to surf the world’s biggest waves in Nazare.
Robyn Larg, from Tiree, made history when she surfed a near-15ft wave on February 15.
She hit the waves with her big brother, Ben Larg, who also made history as the first Scot to compete at the World Surf League Nazare Tow Challenge.

Ben secured third place in the contest after riding swells of up to 35ft.
“I’d been watching Ben surf it for a bit, and I mentioned I wanted to give it ago, and when he was heading over he said there’s a really good forecast for me,” the 18-year-old told STV News.
The teen said she almost had to miss the swell as she was working at Scotland’s recently opened wave pool the Lost Shore Resort.
“Luckily, I was able to get away, everyone was super supportive and let me go, and I booked my flights straight away,” Robyn said.
When she arrived in Portugal, her brother took her out on some calmer days to get used to the swell but said she didn’t feel too nervous even when it got wilder.

“It was special being out there,” she said. “There aren’t a lot of people who get to do it with their older sibling too. I loved every moment of it.”
With that special moment, Robyn made history becoming the youngest British woman to surf the big waves.
It comes after Laura Crane, from Devon, became the first British woman to take on the waves last year.

Robyn said she hadn’t thought about becoming the youngest British woman to surf the spot when she headed into the water.
“That came after, and when they told me it was really cool,” she said.
As for what’s next, Robyn said she would love to go back and try going for bigger waves.
“I would love to go back, I’ll keep training, and surfing and maybe try for bigger waves, even if I could manage a 20ft one, that would be amazing,” she said.
