Scotland’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the World Cup are hanging by a thread.
One win and two defeats later, Scotland’s chances of making history for the first time in reaching the last 32 of the tournament are looking slim.
Steve Clarke’s men knew the high stakes going into facing Brazil in Miami, with a significant defeat making chances of finishing as one of the best eight third-placed teams unlikely.
And it was the worst possible start inside seven minutes when Vini Jnr pounced on a snoozing Scott McKenna to round Angus Gunn and slot home.

History repeats itself
It’s not the first time a defeat to Brazil has left Scotland’s World Cup dreams in the gutter.

Scotland continued their unwanted record of only defeats to the South American giants – winless in 11 attempts.
The five-time World Cup winners cruised into the next round as winners of the group, with Scotland finishing third.
Morocco, another team that beat Scotland in 1998, finished second, and Haiti ended the group last.
