Scotland vs Portugal: Steve Clarke names team for Nations League clash

The national team host Portugal as they aim to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat.

Scotland manager Steve Clarke has named his starting lineup for the Nations League against Portugal.

The national team host Cristiano Ronaldo and co at Hampden as they look to avoid a record fifth defeat in a row.

With just one victory in their last 15 games, Scotland are hoping to get back to winning ways against the team ranked eighth in the world.

The games comes after three defeats in their opening three Nations League since their promotion to League A.

Late defeats to Poland and Portugal were followed by a 2-1 loss to Croatia in Zagreb on Sunday and despite some promising performances Clarke’s side have no points from the first three games.

That follows on from a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign that ended with a group stage defeat to Hungary in the summer.

Clarke has made one change from Sunday’s defeat with Che Adams coming in for Lyndon Dykes.

Scotland have started with Craig Gordon in goals behind a back four of Anthony Ralston, John Souttar, Grant Hanley and captain Andy Robertson.

Kenny McLean and Billy Gilmour are in midfield beside Scott McTominay with Ryan Christie and Ben Doak supporting Adams in attack.
