Scotland Women attacker Lisa Evans fully expects Pedro Martinez Losa’s methods to bear fruit but always thought it would take time.
Evans worked under Losa at Arsenal and believes Scotland are lucky to have him in charge.
Scotland have won their opening three World Cup qualifiers under the Spaniard, although they came close to dropping points at home to Hungary, before losing to Sweden in a friendly.
The challenges step up a level in the coming week with Ukraine visiting Hampden on Friday and group favourites Spain providing opposition in Seville next Monday.
Evans said: “It’s a different way of playing than we have been used to in the past.
“I obviously worked with Pedro at Arsenal for a short period of time, he brought me to the club, so I am well aware of what he expects and what he wants but it’s a lot of information and it’s a lot of getting used to as well.
“He is a top, top quality coach, we are so lucky to have him on board working with us because not only is he good tactically but he is a really good person, a good human being, very passionate.
“And the staff he has brought in, even better – Jose (Barcala), you couldn’t ask for a better assistant, he is absolute quality.
“We are all looking forward to the next few months ahead of us.”
Evans is still under contract with Arsenal but has been revitalised by a loan move to West Ham, who sit fifth in the Women’s Super League in England.
“It’s been good,” she said of her switch. “It’s something I wasn’t too keen on at the start of the season, in all honesty.
“I didn’t expect it. I expected to come in working under a new manager and have the chance to prove myself, because I would have liked to have played more.
“But, in all honesty, it’s been amazing. I have loved every minute at West Ham and it’s only getting better.
“You can see in the last few weeks how much we are progressing as a team and just feeling valued, feeling good in a place, is really important for me.
“The girls have welcomed me with open arms and I get on well with the coaching staff. It’s a really good place for me to be able to give my best.
“You play football because you love it and I don’t want to be sitting on the beach each week.”
