Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie has been banned for three games over an incident with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos during the Old Firm game on Sunday.

Christie appeared to grab the Colombian’s testicles during the second-half of his side’s 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

The 24-year-old was charged by the Scottish FA with violent conduct and an independent panel heard the case on Monday.

Their verdict was that the Celtic star had committed a foul that had been missed by match referee Kevin Clancy.

Christie will now miss the Scottish Cup tie with Partick Thistle on January 18 and the Premiership match against Kilmarnock four days later.

Due to a red card picked up earlier in the season Christie, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, will also miss the game against Ross County on January 25.

However, the 24-year-old has recently undergone surgery on a groin injury and is not expected to be fit until the end of the month.
