Ross County have sold club captain Jack Baldwin to Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee.

The defender had been a stalwart in the team in recent seasons, making 102 appearances for the club since moving to Dingwall in 2021.

Baldwin took on the captain’s armband last season and played 38 games last season as County kept their Premiership status after winning the relegation play-off against Raith Rovers.

The club said that the 31-year-old had made it clear that he was keen to return to England to be closer to his family.

In a brief statement on the club website, County said: “We thank Jack for his service to the club and wish him the very best of luck for the next chapter of his career.”

The Highland club have also announced the signing of attacker Ronan Hale from Cliftonville for an undisclosed fee.

Hale, who scored 50 goals in 80 games for Cliftonville, has signed a three-year deal.

Manager Don Cowie said: “We are delighted to sign Ronan, he has an exceptional goalscoring record in Ireland and had multiple clubs interested in him.

“We are delighted that he has chosen to join Ross County and look forward to his time in the Highlands.”
