Robert MacIntyre ready to handle time difference to continue form in Singapore

Robert MacIntyre believes he can handle another massive change in time zones as he looks to justify top billing in the Porsche Singapore Classic.

MacIntyre is the only member of the world’s top 90 in the field at Laguna National, with the world number 14’s nearest rival in terms of rankings being England’s John Parry at 94th.

However, MacIntyre will have to adjust to a 12-hour time difference between Singapore and Florida, where he finished ninth in the Players Championship on Sunday to continue his strong start to the season.

“I love coming back to Singapore,” the left-hander said. “I think the golf course is brilliant. I’m just looking forward to getting going.

“It’s a long flight but it’s part of our job, part of the schedule. I’m feeling all right just now.

“I had a trip similar to it from Hawaii to Dubai so think it’s such a big time difference that I will be alright this week.”

MacIntyre began his season with two tournaments in Hawaii and finished 17th the following week in the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

The Ryder Cup winner also finished sixth in the WM Phoenix Open and bounced back from a missed cut in the Genesis Invitational with strong performances in the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship.

“I had two great weeks in the States, had a nice training camp before Bay Hill,” MacIntyre added.

“My whole team were out there and we prepared as well as we could for this stretch of events to be in great shape.

“I’m just looking forward to getting out there. Hopefully the weather’s not too bad the next couple of days and we can go out there and compete.”
