Rare fixture quirk in Scottish Championship sees each team take on nearest rivalSNS Group

This weekend’s fixture list in the Scottish Championship has thrown up a bizarre and unlikely quirk with each team playing the club closest to them in the league table.

That means it will be first v second, third v fourth, fifth v sixth, seventh v eighth and ninth v tenth.

Top of the league Falkirk travel to Almondvale to take on second placed Livingston and third place Ayr United host Queen’s Park who are currently in fourth.

Fifth place Partick Thistle will play sixth placed Hamilton at Firhill, Raith Rovers, who are in seventh, host Greenock Morton and the bottom two sides, Dunfermline and Airdrie, meet in Fife.

Falkirk are six points clear at the top with just seven points separating Raith Rovers in seventh to Ayr United in third.

All the games will take place on Saturday afternoon with a 3pm kick-off.
