Meanwhile Scotland star Caroline Weir scored the winner as Real Madrid beat her former team Manchester City 1-0 to secure their place in the next round.

The 27-year-old struck in the 15th minute of an entertaining game in Madrid after brilliantly controlling a cross, turning her marker and lashing a left-footed shot into the top corner.

Man City were unable to get back on level terms and also suffered a worrying injury to England’s Euro 2022 final heroine Chloe Kelly, who was forced off early in the second half.

Glasgow City however finished bottom of their section after defeats to Roma and Servette.
