Rangers will play Malmo in their Champions League third round qualifier after the Swedish side knocked out Finnish outfit HJK.

The Ibrox side will travel to Sweden for the first leg on August 4, with the return fixture in Glasgow on August 10.

Steven Gerrard’s team had been awaiting the second round result, with Malmo edging past HJK on Tuesday evening with an aggregate score of 4-3 over the two legs.

Rangers last took on Malmo in 2011 in Champions League qualification, but were knocked out 2-1 on aggregate.

The club earlier stated their expectation to have a full capacity at Ibrox for their home match against Malmo, with Scotland set to ease coronavirus restrictions on August 9.

On Saturday, Rangers will begin their Scottish Premiership campaign against Livingston in Govan, with 23,000 fans being allowed into the stadium.

It is an increase on the earlier agreed number of 17,000 and follows the return of fans at Ibrox for the club’s pre-season friendly matches against Arsenal, Brighton and Real Madrid.
