Rangers have lifted the SWPL Cup after a 5-0 win over Hibernian in the final at Fir Park.
The victory gives Rangers a third consecutive triumph in the competition, against the team who have won the trophy more than any other.
Rangers had failed to defeat Hibs in their previous meetings this season and it was Hibs who had the ball in the net first, but Michaele McAlonie was offside when she received the ball and her goal was chopped off. Shortly after, Kathleen McGovern had another chance to put Hibs in front but shot inches wide.
From that point on, Rangers were on top and they went ahead in the 38th minute. Katie Wilkinson was the scorer, picking up the rebound from her initial shot after it was saved by Erin Clachers and buried her second chance.
Camille Lafaix doubled Rangers lead just after half-time and Hibs saw their hopes fade to almost nothing when captain Kirsten O’Reilly turned the ball into her own net when trying to clear a cross.
Rangers striker Kristy Howat made it 4-0 with eight minutes to go, and Rio Hardy wrapped up the scoring with her side’s fifth in injury time.
