Mohamed Diomande will be available for Rangers over the festive season after being omitted from Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Boss Danny Rohl expected the 24-year-old midfielder and on-loan defender Nasser Djiga, of Burkina Faso, to be absent from club business while they took part in the tournament in Morocco, which starts on December 21 and ends on January 18.

But Diomande, who earned the last of his eight international caps in a friendly against Canada in June, missing out on subsequent 2026 World Cup qualifiers and autumn internationals, has been left out of Emerse Fae’s squad.

The former FC Nordsjaelland player is suspended for Rangers’ Europa League game against Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday night after being sent off against Braga in the previous continental fixture.

However, he will be available for Monday’s William Hill Premiership match against Hibernian at Ibrox and following games against Hearts, Motherwell and St Mirren, and the Old Firm match against Celtic at Parkhead on January 3.

Rangers are fourth in the table, six points behind Celtic and nine behind leaders Hearts.
