Rangers manager Philippe Clement and players, including James Tavernier, were confronted by angry supporters venting their growing frustrations after defeat to Celtic on Sunday.
When the squad arrived back at Ibrox following the 3-0 loss to their Old Firm rivals they were met by a group of irate fans with expletive laden shouts calling them “losers” and “embarrassments”.
Clement was surrounded as he tried to remonstrate with the group and point out that his side had just as many shots on target as Celtic on the day.
But he was told that his side are “one of the worst” in years and “not the standard expected”.
One man pointed out the money spent on the New Edmiston House at Ibrox – insisting it should have been spent on improving the squad.
Rangers are yet to win an Old Firm game under the Belgian who has now lost four and drawn one in the fixture since being appointed to replace Michael Beale in October.
The poor record against Celtic goes back even further with the Ibrox side only recording one win in their last 13 against the Hoops, and that win was towards the end of the 22/23 season after the league had already been sewn up.
And after the recent defeat, that leaves them five points behind Celtic and Aberdeen and a point behind newly promoted Dundee United in the Premiership.
Tavernier was another who faced the brunt of the anger outside Ibrox when he was accosted by a fan at the exit of the stadium.
One video posted online showed the club captain had to be held back by security guards as the supporter shouted at him to “just f*** off” and called him a “loser” and an “embarrassment”.
The team, including the likes of Cyriel Dessers and John Souttar, were also booed as they entered Ibrox and then again when they were getting back on the team bus.
Fans could be heard chanting “sack the board”.
Celtic eased to victory in the game that was played earlier on Sunday with goals from Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor.
