Former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram is being treated for cancer, the Ibrox club have confirmed.

The 58-year-old is currently being treated in hospital for the disease.

Rangers confirmed the news on Friday afternoon in a message on social media.

It read: “Rangers can confirm our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, is undergoing treatment for cancer in a local hospital.

“Club officials are in regular contact with Andy and his family.

“The family have asked for privacy at this time.

“Everyone at Rangers wishes ‘The Goalie’ well at this difficult time.”

Goram won ten trophies as a Rangers player in the 1990s, playing a key role in Walter Smith’s ‘Nine in a row’ team and impressing in Europe.

The goalkeeper, who also played for Oldham, Hibernian, Motherwell and Manchester united among other clubs, was capped 43 time by Scotland and played at two European Championships.
