Rangers have continued their unbeaten run under Michael Beale with a 2-1 win over Ross County at Ibrox.
The win means they cut the gap at the top of the league to six points thanks to goals from Malik Tillman and Borna Barisic on Saturday afternoon.
The home side went into the game knowing a win would see them move closer to Celtic on points for at least 24 hours ahead of the league leader’s trip to Perth on Sunday.
And Michael Beale made three changes from the midweek win over Hearts with keeper Jon McLaughlin coming in for Allan McGregor who was on the bench alongside Glen Kamara and Tillman.
Ryan Jack and Todd Cantwell returned to the staring XI in place of Kamara and Tillman but the on-loan Bayern Munich star was brought on early in the first half after an injury to John Lundstram.
And it was Tillman who opened the scoring with a header on the stroke of half-time after a sustained period of pressure from the home side.
Todd Cantwell made a darting run into the box before chipping the ball into the middle for the USA international who headed it past Laidlaw for the opener.
One goal ahead going into the second half, Rangers would have been looking to build on their lead and guarantee the three points early.
But Ross County refused to lie down and they had the game level just after the hour mark when Jordan White headed past McLaughlin after a short corner.
Ryan Kent thought he had put Rangers ahead soon after when his shot sailed past the keeper before deflecting of the crossbar.
They only had to wait a couple of minutes before they were ahead when a deflected free-kick from Borna Barisic landed in the back of the net with around 15 minutes to go to make it 2-1.
New signing Nicolas Raskin was introduced to the home crowd for his Rangers debut when he was brought on as part of a triple substitution with eight minutes to go.
There was a hearts in mouths moment for the Rangers supporters when Ross County had a chance in injury time but McLaughlin eventually gathered and cleared the danger.
