Rangers are close to a deal to sign Fabio Silva from Wolves when the transfer window opens in January.
An agreement would see the Portuguese attacker move to Ibrox on loan until the end of the season and is set to be completed.
Silva would become Philippe Clement’s first signing as Rangers manager.
The Belgian boss is keen to add to his squad after seeing his plans hit by injuries since arriving in October.
Brazilian forward Danilo is a long-term absentee through injury, while Cyriel Dessers could be called up to the Nigeria squad for the Africa Cup of Nations after the winter break.
That has prompted the club to make early moves for January signings and Silva has been identified as a player that could help Clement and his side as they pursue success in domestic competition and in the Europa League.
The 21-year-old, who has represented Portugal at every youth level, has found game time hard to come by at the English Premier League side this season and is ready to move for regular football.
Silva came through the ranks at Porto before moving to Wolves in 2020 and the highly-rated youngster has since had loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.
Rangers can register new signings when the transfer window opens on January 1.
The Ibrox side, who trail Celtic by five points in the title race but hold two games in hand, play their rivals at Parkhead on Saturday, then face Kilmarnock at Ibrox on January 2 in their last game before the winter break.
