Rangers boss Clement insists he's never considered quitting

The Light Blues take on Aberdeen at Ibrox on Wednesday, with the visitors winless in the league since the start of November.

Under-pressure Rangers boss Philippe Clement insists he’s never considered walking away and that he has “always been a winner”.

Clement’s side trail rivals Celtic by 15 points despite defeating the Hoops 3-0 at Ibrox at the beginning of the year.

Rangers dropped points on the road against Hibs and Dundee this month and bounced back with a 3-1 victory over St Johnstone on Sunday.

In the wake of the draw at Dens Park, the Rangers Supporters Association called for the Belgian to be sacked, while the ultras-style Union Bears responded to the Ibrox board’s backing for the manager by calling for a mass walk-out.

The Union Bears went ahead with their plans, leaving the stadium in the 55th minute, while others in the stadium booed the group as they walked out.

The Light Blues return to Ibrox on Wednesday against Aberdeen, with the visitors winless in the league since the start of November.

Clement insists there hasn’t been a point when he considered quitting and says he’s a “winner” who intends to take on big challenges.

He said: “No, I haven’t. The bigger the challenge, the more hungry I am in life.

“A lot of things have changed here that have made things more complicated in the last few months but that just makes the challenge bigger to get where we want to get.”

When asked what keeps him going when facing obstacles, he added: “Because I’m a winner, and I always will be.

“No one believed I would become a professional player when I was young and play for my national team but I did.

“I try to take the best out of every second of the day and make people better around you. That’s my ambition, and that will never change.”

He added: “There are so many people here determined to get this club back to where it was quite a while ago.

“I’m not somebody who lives out of revenge or doubters. It’s about getting the best out of every day, week and month and seeing the improvement.”
