Rangers’ postponed match with Livingston looks set to go ahead at 3pm as the club said they had “no concerns” over the pitch.

The Premiership clash, which was due to kick off at Ibrox at 3pm on Saturday, was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

However, Rangers confirmed the match had been shifted back 24 hours and will kick off at 3pm on Sunday.

An update said there were “currently no concerns over the pitch”.

The club said: “Groundstaff have been working tirelessly since 5am this morning and there are currently no concerns over the pitch ahead of today’s match against Livingston.”

Livingston said they had pushed for the game to be played on Monday.

A club statement on social media said: “As a club, we tried to rearrange for Monday night to allow the weather to pass and fans to make alternative arrangements but, ultimately, the decision was made by the SPFL.”

The match was the second high profile match to be called off on Saturday after it failed a 12.30pm inspection.

Motherwell and St Mirren at Fir Park was postponed after the pitch also fell foul to adverse weather conditions.

The Steelmen’s chief executive Alan Burrows said: “We tried everything possible to get the game on.

Postponed: Motherwell v St Mirren.

“Unfortunately we have suffered from exceptional rainfall throughout the week, and in particular overnight into Saturday which has continued right through into the day. That rainfall is also forecast to continue throughout the time the match was due to be played.

“This is the first postponement we have suffered due to the pitch in over five years. Our groundsman and his staff do an incredible job and have done everything within their power to try and mitigate the need for this match to be called off.”

Waterlogged pitches also caused the postponement of Ayr’s Championship clash with Morton and Brechin’s match against Annan in League Two.
