Raith Rovers have sacked manager Ian Murray less than 24 hours after the club’s first league game of the season.
The club announced the decision a day after Rovers’ 1-0 defeat at Airdrieonians, saying that results in 2024 have not matches expectations.
Murray guided the team to second in the Championship last season and then to the play-off final but saw his side lose 6-1 on aggregate to Ross County.
In this season’s League Cup group stage, Raith Rovers finished second in their group, behind Ross County but ahead of Hamilton, Stirling Albion and Stranraer.
A club statement issued on Sunday read:
“Raith Rovers Football Club can confirm it has parted company with first team manager Ian Murray.
“The board expresses its gratitude to Ian for his contributions since joining the club in May 2022.
“Despite finishing second last season, results and performances since the turn of the year have fallen short of expectations. The board has therefore decided to terminate the manager’s contract.
“The process of appointing a new manager has begun. In the interim, Colin Cameron and John Potter will take on first team duties until a successor is appointed.”
