Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Celtic are still active in the transfer market and says there is room for one more new signing in January.

Players including forward Giorgos Giakoumakis have been linked with a move away in recent days, but the manager insisted there has been no update on that front.

He also believes the strength of Celtic’s squad means they won’t be rushing about for last minute replacements if anyone does leave.

He said: “We’re still active – I think there’s probably still space for one more.

“Our planning has been to get our business done early.

“By bringing in three players early, we’re in a position now where we’re not really on tenterhooks in January.

“If we do happen to lose players, we aren’t scrambling around to try to replace them. We’ve got a really strong squad, which I’m happy with, and we can make the decision over incomings or exits without any need for panic.”

Giakoumakis, who scored in last week’s semi-final win, remains a Celtic player ahead of Wednesday’s Premiership clash with St Mirren despite mounting speculation over a move to Japan.

Urawa Red Diamonds are reported to be close to securing a £3.5m switch, but Postecoglou has not had any definite information on a deal from chief executive Michael Nicholson.

He said: “Michael is dealing with all that stuff and, as we sit right here, nobody is leaving or coming.

“There is always going to be speculation around the place but from our perspective at this moment there is nothing definite happening.”

Celtic are also set to make changes from the team that beat Kilmarnock on Sunday when they play against St Mirren on Wednesday night.
