The Polish FA will investigate reports that two VAR officials scheduled to be in place for the Champions League qualifier between Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers in Poland were arrested for a drunken escapade.
It was reported that three intoxicated men removed a road sign in the early hours of the morning in Lublin and moved with it towards one of the shopping malls before being detained by police.
Both officials were replaced for the third qualifying round tie involving the Glasgow side.
Superintendent Kamil Golebiowski, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lublin, said: “Around 1:40am we received a report that three men were carrying a road sign down the street. Police officers were sent to the scene. All the men were intoxicated and had more than 1.5 per mille of alcohol in their blood. They were taken to the sobering room.”
A statement from the Polish FA read: “The Polish Football Association’s Referees’ Board will conduct a detailed analysis of the situation following reports of inappropriate conduct by two Ekstraklasa referees who were supposed to be working at the Champions League qualifiers between Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers FC.”
