Partick Thistle have given a positive update on Courtney Stewart’s health after she suffered a head injury during her side’s match against Rangers.
Stewart had to wait three hours for an ambulance after a collision with Laura Rafferty caused her to suffer a seizure and needing immediate treatment ten minutes into her side’s match at Broadwood Stadium on Saturday.
The midfielder was eventually taken to hospital around 5pm and Thistle say she is now “awake, alert and talking”. The club say CT scans and x-rays have come back clear.
Thistle thanked physio Alanna MacPherson, Rangers’ medical team and the St John’s Ambulance volunteers who gave Stewart immediate aid. However, head coach Brian Graham was critical of the long delay for an ambulance and said it would not have happened in the men’s game.

“You fear the worst as soon as you see it happening but you’ve got to give credit to our medical staff, the Rangers medical staff and the first-aider because they really looked after her,” Graham said in a club video following the game.
“But she is still waiting on an ambulance as we speak right now and I think something’s got to change on that front.
“Everybody is trying to keep her awake because she keeps trying to fall asleep. From a medical point of view we are just trying to keep her awake while we wait on an ambulance to get her to hospital and get her really checked over. We just hope she’s OK.”
