Partick Thistle have sacked club legend Kris Doolan as manager.

The Fir Hill board said the decision to relieve the Thistle legend of his duties was “not taken lightly” after he took the manager role in March 2023.

The 38-year-old made 401 appearances for the club and scored 121 goals before departing in 2019, and lead the Jags to two play-off campaigns as head coach.

Thistle have won just one of their last five games in the Scottish Championship and suffered a 3-0 defeat away to fifth placed Raith Rovers on Saturday.

Assistant manager Paul McDonald has also left the club, it was confirmed.

Brian Graham and Mark Wilson are to oversee preparations for this weekend’s match against Airdrieonians at home.

Chairman Richard Beastall said: “The board have made the difficult decision to part ways with Kris. This was not an easy choice.

“When Kris left as a player in 2019, it was said that ‘He is, and always will be, a legend at Partick Thistle Football Club.’ That remains true today.”

“On behalf of everyone at the club, we thank Kris for his dedication and wish him the very best for the future. He will always be welcome at Firhill.”
