Hearts midfielder Oisin McEntee is enjoying dealing with the raised expectations of being a player in a table-topping team.

McEntee has started 10 games since moving from Walsall to the William Hill Premiership leaders.

The 24-year-old was previously on Newcastle’s books but his first-team experience was limited to a loan spell with Morton before his three-year stint in the West Midlands.

“That is the one thing that I have noticed,” McEntee said ahead of Saturday’s trip to face Kilmarnock.

“When you are stepping on to the pitch you are expected to win every game and I think the belief in the changing room is that we can win every game. So it is that bit different.

“This is where you want to be and there’s a really good mood with all the boys. We’re just trying to keep that going and I think it breeds confidence going into games and that’s where results come.”

The versatile Irishman is not getting caught up in the hype surrounding the start to the season made by Derek McInnes’ side.

“Personally I don’t really see a lot of it,” he said. “I don’t really spend a lot of time on social media and obviously my family aren’t from Scotland, they are in Ireland, and all my mates are in Ireland.

“So I don’t really hear a lot about it and you only might hear it from people in the club. But it’s all positive in the club.

“The manager has been around in this league and has a lot of experience so he’ll definitely be able to help us with that and he has been helping us.”
