Dundee United defender Ryan Edwards will not face any action after a challenge that led to Alfredo Morelos being stretchered off during a match at Ibrox last weekend.

Edwards caught Morelos above the knee with his studs when challenging for the ball during Rangers’ 4-0 win on Saturday.

The Colombian striker dropped to the ground and was stretchered off after attention from his club’s medical team. He appeared to have a deep gash in his leg.

Match official Kevin Clancy didn’t award a foul or show Edwards a card at the time but the incident was reviewed by the Scottish FA.

A panel of three former referees watched video footage but were not in unanimous agreement that a red card offence had been missed.

Morelos has been declared fit to travel with the Rangers squad for their Europa League match against Lincoln Red Imps.
