Nikola Katic leaves Rangers for loan spell at Hajduk Split

Rangers have loaned Nikola Katic to Hajduk Split, with the defender returning to his homeland for the remainder of the season.

The centre-back missed last season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox.

Katic will now spend this season in Croatia with Hajduk in the hopes of playing regular first team football.

Steven Gerrard has Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Leon Balogun as options at centre-back, with Jack Simpson also competing for an opportunity in the team.

Prior to his injury, Katic made 59 appearances for Rangers, scoring six goals.
