Celtic have sold winger Nicolas Kuhn to Italian side Como in a deal understood to be worth over £17m.

The 25-year-old winger makes the move to Serie A after just 18 months in Glasgow, but having won two Premiership titles, the Scottish Cup and the Premier Sports Cup.

Celtic confirmed the German’s exit, saying the player leaves with the club’s best wishes.

Kuhn told Como’s official website that it was an easy decision to move to Italy.

He said: “I’m really excited to be here. I had a long chat with the coach and I can’t wait to get out on the pitch, familiarise myself with the stadium and play in front of our fans.

“The decision was easy: the project is ambitious, and I want to be part of it, doing my best to help the team grow and achieve increasingly important goals.

“The city is beautiful — a real film set!

“I’m happy to start this new adventure in such a beautiful place”.

Kuhn joined Celtic in January 2024, from Rapid Wien, signing a five-and-a-half year deal with the champions.

Though he made 18 appearances and scored three times in the second half of the season, his impact was to be felt more in his first full season.

The German played 51 games last season and scored 21 times, with 15 assists. Among his highlights were a double against RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stage, and a goal against Bayern Munich in the first knockout round of the elite competition. He also scored in every round of the League Cup as Celtic went on to lift the trophy.

Kuhn ended the season as a domestic double winner and his performances caught the eye of ambitious Serie A side Como, who offered €20m (£17.2m) to take him to Italy, representing a huge profit on a player Celtic reportedly paid around £3m for.

The winger could face his old club just weeks after moving, as Celtic are due to play in a pre-season tournament in Como this month alongside the hosts, Ajax, and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli.
