The owner of the New England Patriots has expressed interest in bringing an NFL game to Scotland after the Tartan Army brought celebrations to Boston.

The US city fell in love with the Scots who travelled across the Atlantic to follow Steve Clarke’s men to their first World Cup in 28 years.

Following scenes of joy throughout the city, it was announced that Glasgow and Boston had been twinned.

The “positive impression” made by the travelling support also caught the eye of Robert Kraft, the owner of the renowned NFL team, the New England Patriots.

The energy at Gillette Stadium, home of the six-time Super Bowl champions, during Scotland’s games against Morocco and Haiti has prompted Kraft to register his interest with the NFL in bringing a game across the pond.

League commissioner Roger Goodell has been made aware of the interest, and it is now up to the NFL to determine whether a Patriots game in Scotland is possible.

The team told STV News that the “fun and energy” brought to the city by Scotland supporters could result in a new relationship between the professional American football league and the country.
