Motherwell have appointed fashion firm chief executive Kyrk Macmillan as the chairman of their refreshed board.
The 33-year-old joins Grant Jarvie and Greg Anderson in being added to the club’s now six-strong board.
Macmillan was recently appointed chief executive of Bee Inspired, a successful fashion brand founded by former St Mirren players Steven Robb and Mark Corcoran.
Originally from East Kilbride, Macmillan is a Motherwell fan who previously held a chief executive role in a Danish fashion firm, where he was named one of the top three young business people in the country.
The three new board members were appointed following a joint recruitment process between the Well Society, the fan-run majority shareholder, and chief executive Brian Caldwell.
Macmillan described his appointment as a “true honour and privilege”.
“I have had the fortune of building relationships with the Well Society board members, and we share a common vision of ensuring close collaboration between the club and Society, building on core values of transparency, community and integrity,” he said.
“The Well Society elections and the publication of the vision document – ‘Our Club, Our Future’ – has shown that we have an incredibly skilled and energised community, and we must ensure we provide a platform and culture of unity, and which brings that to fruition.”
Anderson, a digital marketing and events chief executive, was recently elected to the Well Society board.
Professor Jarvie is director of academy sport at the University of Edinburgh and has held a number of roles in the football sector, including working with clubs including Barcelona and examining the role of football in Scottish communities.
“I have been fortunate enough to see what football can do to help communities all over the world,” lifelong Motherwell fan Jarvie stated.
“As a town and diaspora of big hearts, broad shoulders and bold dreams, Motherwell has a heritage of legendary sports figures and moments, but also has a football and Well Society whose future is focused on serving communities, players and fans.”
The three new directors join Caldwell, finance director David Lindsay and the Well Society’s Tom Feely on the board.
Previous chairman Jim McMahon recently retired, while Andrew Wilson and former Well Society chairman Douglas Dickie also stepped down this year. Philip Speedie has been appointed as the Well Society’s new chair.
Caldwell said: “Today’s key leadership appointments at the football club and the Well Society – announced together – strengthen our focus and signal a shared ambition for the future of this football club.
“This is a key moment for our club, our fans and community and I look forward to working with the strengthened team.”
Speedie added: “Refreshing our leadership, governance, growth and engagement models were key elements of our plans for the coming years.”
