Motherwell manager Michael Wimmer has urged his players to send the Fir Park faithful away for the summer with hope and a positive performance.

The Steelmen fell to a 3-0 defeat against Hearts on Saturday, but have the chance to ensure they finish above Kilmarnock in the William Hill Premiership when they host the Ayrshire side on Wednesday.

Wimmer, who is unbeaten in his four home games in charge, said in an official club video: “The key message is it’s our last home game. It’s important for the fans, but it’s also important for the club to finish the season as well as possible.

“It’s also important for me because I want to see improvements and not steps back.

“Especially out of possession, especially in defending our last third, it was not good and I want to see that we do it better.

“As I say, this is the last home game, we have a responsibility to the fans, to give them a team with energy on the pitch, to give everything.”
