Marijn Beuker has left Scottish championship side Queen’s Park to join Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
The 39-year-old signed a ten-year-deal when he joined the Lesser Hampden side as director of football in 2021 but only lasted two years in the role.
He will now take up the same role at the four-time European champions.
Beuker joined Queen’s Park halfway through the 2021/22 season when the Spiders eventually finished second and narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premiership under Owen Coyle.
At Ajax he will be responsible for the youth academy and the scouting and football analytics departments.
After being officially unveiled at the 36-times Dutch champions on Wednesday, he said: “Ajax is a fantastic football club with a rich history and huge potential for the future. I look forward to starting soon and being part of a team with the shared goal of bringing Ajax back to the top.”
Queen’s Park confirmed the departure with a statement from club president David Hunter saying: “Naturally, I am disappointed Marijn is leaving us. We had a long-term plan with Marijn heading up our academy, however the structures and coaching teams that are now in place gives me confidence the club will be able to continue our progress. All here at Queen’s Park wish Marijn every success for the future.”
Before joining Queen’s Park, Beuker spent 15 years in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar.
He leaves Glasgow with the Spiders currently sitting eighth in the second tier following a 3-0 defeat to Partick Thistle at the wekeend.
