Team GB has won its first athletics medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games thanks to Scotland’s Maria Lyle.
The 21-year-old sprinter from Dunbar claimed brozen in the Women’s T35 100m final in a season’s best time of 14.18.
It is the fourth medal for a Scottish athlete at the games.
Reacting to the result, chief executive of Sportscotland, Stewart Harris, said: “Time and time again Maria has shown she has what it takes to compete on the global stage and she has added another Paralympic bronze to her collection after an incredible display.
“She has worked so hard for this moment and everyone at Sportscotland is delighted for her.
“Huge congratulations to Maria, her coach, support staff and of course everyone who has supported her from both Scottish and British Athletics.”
Scotland’s Fin Graham won silver in the C3 3000m Individual Pursuit on Thursday.
Scotland’s Aileen McGlynn, piloted by Helen Scott, won silver in the Women’s B 1000m Time Trial at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Aberdeen’s Toni Shaw won a medal in the S9 400m freestyle – the first British athlete to enjoy success in the pool in Tokyo.
