Lutz Pfannenstiel says Aberdeen can benefit from Toyosi Olusanya’s ‘aggression’SNS Group

Toyosi Olusanya will bring an aggression that Aberdeen need, according to sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel.

The Dons have signed the former St Mirren forward on loan from Houston Dynamo until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old joined Houston in April last year but has yet to start a Major League Soccer game.

He had a loan spell with Doncaster earlier this season but again found starts hard to come by and has not scored since he left Scotland.

Pfannenstiel said: “Toyosi’s arrival bolsters our attacking options and offers a different threat to what we currently have in the squad. He is physical and brings an aggression that we need at this moment.

“He is hungry to get started and we believe his addition will help us achieve our goals between now and the end of the season.”

Olusanya scored 19 goals in 85 appearances for St Mirren and believes he can quickly recapture that form.

The former Middlesbrough player could make his debut in the William Hill Premiership encounter with Livingston at Pittodrie on Saturday.

“When I first heard of the interest, I felt that coming here would be a good move,” he told RedTV.

“Aberdeen is a huge club. I’ve seen the passion the fans have for the team, driving them on to do well.

“Everywhere they go, the supporters travel in big numbers and really get behind the team, so we need to give that back with our performances and hard work.

“I want to show what I can do. The last two years at St Mirren were good for me. Scottish football is where I really made a name for myself and hopefully I can pick up where I left off.

“I want to score goals, work hard and be a team player. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone. I’ve heard it’s a good group of boys and I can’t wait to get started. I’m ready to go on Saturday if I’m called upon.”

Pfannenstiel has signalled that there could be more transfer dealings to follow after Olusanya arrived soon after Jesper Karlsson departed.

“We’ve been clear that during this window we need to make changes to the dynamics of the squad,” the German said.

“We’ve brought new players in, seen some move on, and there may be more to follow as we look to redress the balance.”
