The transfer window slammed shut on Monday night and won’t reopen again until January, but all is not lost for those who failed to bring in their top targets with a host of free agents still available for clubs across Scotland to look at.
Clubs across the country were working tirelessly to get their squads ready for the rest of the season with the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and St Mirren all bringing in reinforcements.
However, the Hoops failed to get a replacement for Adam Idah, who joined Swansea City, and have been left short in the attacking areas.
They have now been linked with a move for Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who manager Brendan Rodgers worked with during his time at Leicester City in the English Premier League.
The 28-year-old, who burst onto the scene as a teenager with Manchester City before later helping the Foxes with the FA Cup and Community Shield, was released from his contract at Seville on Wednesday night.
Iheanacho has a good pedigree in the game, with 59 international caps, and helped Leicester reach the semi-finals of the Conference League under Rodgers and was named the club’s player of the year in their final season together.
However, since his move to La Liga a year ago, he has struggled for form and fitness and scored just once in 15 games during a loan spell at Middlesbrough in the second half of last season.
And with just three goals in 11 appearances for Seville, he could now look to reignite his career under his former boss in a move that may help him get back into the Nigeria squad for the African Cup of Nations which kicks off in December.
We take a look at other names on the list of free agents that could potentially be of interest to Scottish clubs still keen to bolster their squads further.
