Liam Fox is unsure what the future will hold for him, but insists Hearts “will be back” next season as they look to make up for a disappointing campaign this time around.
The Tynecastle club have been heavily linked with a move for Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes who is expected to take the reins in the summer following the departure of Neil Critchley.
Interim boss Fox has backed the Jambos to bounce back, whoever is in the dugout, as he spoke about his own future.
He said: “I’m not naive, I’m not silly, I understand when a new manager comes in there are various different things that can come with that.
“What I will say is that I think I can add value to anybody. What I will also say is that football is all about opportunities and different bits and pieces and I’ve really enjoyed the last couple of weeks.
“I feel like I have tried to do the job the way I would do it if it was my job, and I try to be upfront and honest.
“Hopefully we have seen a wee bit of a change in the style, we’ve picked up some good results.
“So, listen, you just never know what the future is going to hold in football.
“This season we have dipped below the expectation level at this football club. We know that and we understand it.
“There will obviously be changes going forward, and the great thing about football is we’ll have our summer and then we’ll be back next year, whether I am here or not.
“Whoever is in charge, it’ll be a new season so I’m sure there will be some changes. There’s been things coming and going, but that’s what football is all about and why supporters keep coming back, because there is always another game.”
